FlexShade ZIP brings the comfort and security of the indoors outside. Enjoy the benefit of expanding usable square footage in both living and business areas without costly renovations. The welded ZIP fabric attachment and unique side channels ensure a sealed enclosure for existing garages, porches, patios, pool houses, and outdoor commercial food service areas. Easily create outdoor workspaces, elegant areas for dining and entertaining, or relaxing outdoor niches that are protected from the sun, wind, rain, and pesky insects. When used as an outdoor shading system, FlexShade ZIP prevents heat from entering a building and helps to lower HVAC costs.

  • Two headbox sizes available: ZIP 92: 3-5/8” high headbox and ZIP 127: 5” high headbox.

  • Three headbox styles: square, angled (ZIP 127 only), and curved.
  • Side channels can be jamb or face mounted.
  • Side channel width is only 1-3/4" (44 mm).
  • Hardware finish is textured powder coat available in white, black, ivory, sand, charcoal bronze, or silver (smooth finish). Custom powder coat colors available.
  • No light gap at side channels for complete edge blackout system.
  • Can serve as an operable insect screen or room divider.

  • Weighted hem bar to stabilize shade during operation.

ANSI/WCMA A100.1 Compliance

If clutch-operated roller shades are installed in an environment where it's possible that young children will be present, they should comply with ANSI/WCMA A100.1, the Standard for Safety of Window Coverings.

If the shades that you purchase need to comply with this standard, it is your responsibility to inform Draper and opt-in to receive compliant products at time of order.

Compliant window shades will include:

  • Pre-installed spring-loaded chain tension device with bead chain threaded through it
  • Approved permanent warning label attached
  • Approved mechanical fasteners for the tension device included

If the tension device is not installed properly, or becomes unattached from the mounting surface, the shade will be rendered partially inoperable. If installed properly, the tension device will prevent the creation of a hazardous loop and will maintain tension on the bead chain. The tension device and label require tools to be removed.

Testing

The testing required by the WCMA for products to comply with safety standard A100.1 includes:

  • UV stability testing - AATCC Test Method 16 for UV Stability
  • Impact testing - ASTM D5420
  • Bead chain durability testing
  • Operation cycle testing - 3,000 cycles per the standard

Draper's spring loaded tension device passed the requirements of these tests.
